The FAFSA has undergone significant changes for the 2024-2025 aid year due to the passing of the Free Application for 联邦学生援助(FAFSA)简化 Act. 由于这些变化, the Department of Education moved the release date the 2024-2025 FAFSA from October 1 to a "soft launch" beginning December 30, 2023. In future academic years, the FAFSA will resume being fully released by October 1.

Submittal of the 2024-2025 FAFSA by March 15th is recommended to receive the best financial aid options.

金融 aid awarding for the 2024-2025 academic year is anticipated to begin in late March after the 24-25 FAFSA has been processed by the Department of Education.

  • Reduces the number of questions students will have to answer on the form.

These federal aid requirements, rights, and responsibilities have not changed or had minor updates:

If your family has experienced financial hardship that was not accurately reflected on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the LCU 财务援助办事处 can review the financial information for consideration of special circumstance. The Department of Education allows financial assistance offices to review special circumstance situations on a case-by-case basis and allows for adjustments to the data elements on the FAFSA.

The following examples may be considered as Special Circumstance situations:

If a loss of income has occurred or unusual expenses have been incurred, it may affect the results of the FAFSA since the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) is based upon the previous year’s income information. Special circumstance requests will begin to be reviewed during May for the next award year.
